About The Bentleigh Club

  

The Bentleigh Club was born in a Catering Room at 368 Centre Road, Bentleigh on the 30th November 1948, after a series of discussions by a group of local residents and businessmen realising the need in the district for a Men’s Club.

 

On February 7, 1949, the club purchased a property known as 'The Crozier’ for £8,100.0.0, and another parcel of land for a tennis court for £375.0.0. 

 

The following is a brief summary of the way The Bentleigh Club has grown: 

 

1951  Bowling green and tennis court constructed.
1955         Club granted a Liquor License.
1957 Billiard Room (now Bistro) constructed.
1960 Fountain Room built and kitchen extended.
1964 New, larger Billiard Room (now Gaming Room) constructed, and a sauna installed.
1969 Ladies sauna and rest room established upstairs.
1977 Bistro lounge (now member’s bar and billiard room) and squash courts constructed.
1982 Gymnasium and spa built.

 

In 1997 the Melbourne Football Club entered into a partnership with The Bentleigh Club. Since then extensive renovations have taken place to all areas of the club, which now offers you a modern and relaxed venue for your social, sporting and entertainment needs.
